Benchworks to Bring New Flexible Workspace to Dover’s The Bench

A new flexible workspace for businesses, freelancers and entrepreneurs is set to open at The Bench in Dover.

Benchworks will form a key part of The Bench’s business offer, providing co-working space, hot-desking, serviced offices and meeting rooms in the heart of the town centre.

The new workspace will be operated by the team behind Coachworks in Ashford, who have experience creating spaces that bring together independent businesses, creative projects and community activity.

Benchworks has been designed to reflect the changing way people work, offering flexible options for those who may not need, or want, a traditional long-term office lease.

Members will be able to use the space for anything from a single day to several months, with longer-term options available for growing businesses and established organisations looking for a permanent base.

The project aims to make professional workspace more accessible while supporting business growth, employment and enterprise in Dover.

It will provide a base for freelancers, remote workers, start-ups and established businesses, while encouraging more people to work and meet within the town centre.

Steve Sitton, owner and operator of Benchworks, said:

“We want to create a workspace that feels accessible, useful and genuinely connected to Dover.

“Not everyone needs a traditional office or wants to commit to a lengthy lease, but having a professional place to work, meet clients and develop ideas can make a huge difference.

“Benchworks will remove some of those traditional barriers and give people the flexibility to use a workspace in a way that suits them and their business.

“Being part of The Bench also gives us the opportunity to contribute to something much wider, bringing business, education, creativity and skills together under one roof.”

Benchworks will also focus on building a shared business community, creating opportunities for members to connect, collaborate and learn from one another.

The workspace will complement the wider education, training and creative facilities being developed at The Bench, helping to bring further activity and investment into Dover town centre.

Cllr Kevin Mills, Leader of Dover District Council, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Benchworks to The Bench in Dover and look forward to seeing the launch of its new workspace offer.

“The Bench continues to make strong progress and will play an important role in supporting the regeneration of Dover, providing business and creative spaces while improving access to education, training and skills opportunities.”

Further details about Benchworks, including membership options and opening information, will be announced ahead of its launch on www.bench-works.co.uk
